True oak barrel aging

Contact with oak during maturation can enrich a spirit's color, aroma and taste. Extraction, gradual oxidation and evaporation may bring wood, vanilla, spice and caramel-like notes and help round out the flavor. The actual result depends on the drink, oak toast, barrel size and aging time.

Before first use

Rinse and soak the new barrel with clean water until the oak swells and the joints naturally seal. Change the water regularly to remove excess tannins. This preparation may take several days or up to two weeks.
